Feasibility analysis of applying brick or concrete ducts to smoke management systems
Sun Zheng, Chen Weile
To explore the feasibility of applying brick or concrete ducts to smoke management systems, this paper combines engineering examples to calculate and analyse the resistance and air leakage of the brick or concrete ducts. The results indicate that the resistance of smoke management systems using brick or concrete ducts is not necessarily greater than that using lined metal ducts. The air leakage of brick or concrete ducts with qualified tightness is controllable, and the actual air leakage is not greater than the maximum allowable air leakage. The key to ensuring controllable resistance and air leakage lies in the construction quality of the brick or concrete ducts, while the key to solving quality problems lies in strengthening the supervision of brick or concrete duct construction quality by all parties involved and strictly implementing the requirements of the current code systems.
